The Siege of Jerusalem 7th of June to the 15th of July 1099 CE. The successful siege saw the Crusaders take Jerusalem from the Muslims and laid the foundation for the Kingdom of Jerusalem. Godfrey de Bouillon became the first Lord of the Kingdom of Jerusalem. He was never crowned King, but held the title of "Protector and Advocate of the Holy Sepulchre". He is also known as the "Baron of the Holy Sepulchre" and the "Crusader King". When Godfrey de Bouillon died on the 18th of July 1100 his brother, Baldwin de Boulogne, count of Edessa, succeeded him and became the first official King of the Kingdom of Jerusalem. The ceremony took place in the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, on Christmas Day 1100 CE. |
