Alan, or Anselm, de Richmont is mentioned in Raimond d'Agiles and other writers as one of the Christian force in Palestine. He was Earl of Richmondshire in Yorkshire, and also Earl of Brittanny. Arms - chequy, or; vaz. canton, erm.

Alain IV, Fergant, Duke of Brittany, in 1098 CE he joined the First Crusade, as part of the army of Robert Curthose, leaving Ermengarde as his regent, he returned in 1101 CE.


His illegitimate son Brien FitzCount, also joined the first Crusade.
