Brampton Bryan Castle

Bryan de Brampton 1064-1122 † CE, lived in this castle. He took the cross and joined the first Crusade (1096-1099 CE). The Castle is mentioned in the Domesday Book, a manuscript record of the "Great Survey" of England and parts of Wales, completed in 1086 CE.

You can visit the ruins of this castle in the small village of Brampton Bryan in north western Herefordshire, England. To our knowledge the castle is only open, one day a year, to visitors on the first Sundays of August.
