Thibalt de Montmorency

Thibalt de Montmorency belonged to the ancient family of that name, so celebrated in French history. He assumed the cross, and did good service in Palestine. A branch of this family came over with William the Conqueror, and received large grants in Wales. Viscount Mountmorris is a descendant from the same stock; from which also descend the family of Montmorency Pratt of Castle Morres; that of Viscount Frankfort de Montmorency; and the collateral relations of the latter bearing the name of Morres.
