Philip de Braose arms Philip de Braose Philip de Braose arms

Philip de Braose, on going to Jerusalem, confirmed the grants made by William his father to the Abbey of St. Florence at Salmure: this was one among many acts of piety performed by him. By his wife Berta he had two sons, from whom are descended the families of the name Braose; also those bearing the name of Knil, by Sir John de Braose, who adopted that surname; Sir John Walsham, Bart., by Barbara, an heiress; and the family of the name Cantilupe descended from Wm. de Braose.

Philip joined the First Crusade to the Holy Land, returning in 1103.
